Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, better known as Katy Perry, welcomed her firstborn into the world this week. The birth of Daisy Dove Bloom was announced on the Unicef Instagram account, after which happy Katy reposted it on her page. She’s been sporting a stunning maternity wardrobe over the past few months and can finally pull out the mom jeans. Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom met in 2016, and he popped the question on Valentine’s Day in 2016. When they first met, he told her that they would pull the poison out of each other, and boy, was he right. This power couple compliments each other.
Unfortunately, the couple called it quits shortly before the birth of Daisy. The new parents told Unicef that they were “floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival.” A little after a year of their engagement, Perry released the video for her song “Never Worn White” on Youtube. She sings about being wary of commitment all her life and finally being ready to settle down. At the end of this video, she revealed her baby bump. As is usually expected from Katy, she was very open about her pregnancy. During a performance she did at the Women’s Cricket World Cup Final in Melbourne, Perry told fans that she wanted a baby girl. Although it’s likely that she already knew the gender at the time, she was heavily criticized for making such an admission. On the trend of being open, Katy admitted in an interview with People Magazine that she was terrified at the idea of motherhood a couple of years ago. The singer said, “It was just like, I don’t know how I’m ever gonna do that. That’s crazy. I can barely take care of myself!”
Being the daughter of Perry and Bloom comes with some perks, as baby Daisy is only a few days old and already sporting gifts from Lionel Richie and others. Lionel sent a unicorn dressing gown with a gold horn, and Beyonce sent a bouquet of white roses with a note to congratulate the couple. Orlando has a nine-year-old son, Flynn, with ex Miranda Kerr, who also took to social media to congratulate the couple on their new addition. In an interview with Hello! Magazine, Bloom opened up about Flynn’s reaction when he found out that he would become a big brother again.
“Flynn couldn’t be more excited to be getting a little sister; he’s already got two brothers from Miranda, so although the circumstances are definitely unusual, this is a wonderful time for us,” he said. We can’t wait to see some photos of Daisy Dove Bloom.
